Michael J. Bykowsky, MD, PhD

“As a new physician, I wanted to make a significant and positive difference in people’s lives. I developed an interest in—and, really, a love for—immunology, which involves how the body deals with foreign invasion. Allergy is an abnormal immune response to a common substance (pollen, dust, pets, foods etc.) that affects about 20 percent of us. We see the many problems people with allergies encounter both in their health and quality of life and the positive impact a well designed treatment plan can have.
“I enjoy being able to treat many members of the same family. The greatest compliment I can receive is when a parent I have treated for years, sometimes in their childhood, entrusts the care of their child to
me. But my greatest enjoyment comes from seeing them conquer a condition that kept them from enjoying things in life like exercise or the outdoors while improving their quality of life.”

Dr. Bykowsky has coached youth soccer and volunteered at his church for an afterschool program for local at-risk children. In his free time, he enjoys family, sports, golf and fishing.
